106 new cases of Covid-19 found overnight, 91 new recoveries

106 new cases of Covid-19 were found overnight, health authorities reported in their daily update on Thursday.

91 people meanwhile have recovered from the virus.

This means that the number of active cases now stands at 1,927 – which is still a record high, having increased from 1,915.

2,966 swab tests were carried out in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of swab tests up to 329,546 so far.

Authorities said that today’s cases are still being investigated, but gave details about yesterday’s cases.

Out of the 75 reported on Wednesday: 22 were contacts of positive work colleagues, 21 were family members of previously known cases, 7 were direct contacts with other positive cases, 2 were from social gatherings, and 2 were imported.

Malta has now had 5,866 cases of the virus. 3,880 of those have recovered, while 59 have died, with two new deaths being reported on Thursday morning.
